Project Description:
- This addition and renovation project was part of a two phase, three-year project that included extensive changes to the school’s MEP infrastructure as well as recreating the ingress/egress and circulation pattern for the entire upper and middle schools.
- Construction management services included: constructability review, budgeting, value engineering, subcontractor bid and award, safety and logistical planning, pre-purchase program, scheduling, construction and commissioning oversight.
PHASE I: PERFORMING ARTS/SCIENCE CLASSROOMS
New SF: 22,000; Renovation SF: 6,000
- New addition, built within an existing courtyard, includes science labs, drama room, orchestra room, practice rooms, music rooms, and a music library.
- High-end finishes and acoustical treatment used throughout. Relocation of main campus electrical and mechanical plants.
PHASE II: MIDDLE/UPPER SCHOOL CLASSROOMS
New SF: 23,200; Renovation SF: 8,000
- New addition consisting of 15 classrooms, labs, locker area, school store, greenhouse and faculty offices. Renovations to common space areas to enhance traffic circulation to and from the new addition.
- Each phase was performed under occupied conditions and included many sustainable design elements as well as the challenges of coordinating the new construction with an existing, c.1930 historic structure.
