Project Description:

  • Built in 1913, the South Norwalk Library features the Classic Revival style typical of libraries funded by the Carnegie Foundation.
  • The project consisted of 11,000 square feet of renovated floor area and 3,000 square feet of new additions.
  • New restroom facilities on all three floors were installed.
  • Total renovation of the main library area, the children’s library, circulation desks, reading rooms, computer and work areas.
  • The West addition included a three-story stair tower, elevator and a new lobby area.
  • A two-story stair tower was added on the East side.
  • Construction management services included: budgeting, value engineering, subcontractor bid and award, safety and logistical planning, pre-purchase program, scheduling and construction.
