Project Description:
- At the time of construction, Jack Jackter was the largest elementary school in Connecticut, serving over 1,000 students.
- Complete renovation of existing 83,000 square foot school down to structural steel accomplished in four phases while school remained in continuous operation.
- Two major additions to building totaling 35,100 square feet. Full replacement of 1,400 linear feet of exterior brick veneer walls on the entire existing building.
- Reworked and upgraded mechanical and electrical services including installation of 500 KW diesel generator, new boilers, sprinkler system throughout existing and new building, cable TV and internet access at each classroom, and a comprehensive security system throughout.
- New work included media center with 30-by-30-foot pyramidal skylight, fourteen classrooms, cafeteria and kitchen.
- Renovations to gymnasium and over fifty classrooms.
