A.P. Construction Company is pleased to announce the hiring of Michael Mallett as the Chief Operating Officer of A.P. Construction Company, a division of The Ashforth Company. He is responsible for the overall management of the Company, including field operations, preconstruction services, estimating, accounting, human resources, administration, and business development. He is a member of A.P. Construction’s executive committee, which develops and implements new strategic initiatives for the Company.

Michael has more than 30 years of experience in the construction industry, with a career shaped by hands-on fieldwork, operational leadership, and executive oversight. He has successfully led a broad range of projects across public and private K-12 schools, higher education, healthcare, commercial, and multifamily sectors—managing work from $1 million to $250 million in scale. Notable projects managed at institutions include Harvard (various schools), MIT, Wheelock, UNH, UMass, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Phillips Academy, Perkins School for the Blind, Boston WooSox Baseball Stadium, and Novartis.

Prior to APC, Michael served as COO of Controlled Environment Systems (CES), overseeing operations across four specialized business units, including Cold Storage and Design-Build Clean Rooms. Prior to CES, he held positions at Gilbane Building Company as Senior Project Executive, Walsh Brothers, Inc. as Vice President/Project Executive, Shawmut Design and Construction in various senior leadership roles, including Regional Construction Manager and Senior Superintendent, and J.F. White as a Project Superintendent.

Michael studied civil/environmental engineering at Northeastern University. He is a past Ben Franklin Institute member of the Industry Advisory Board and a past member of the Industry Advisory Board at Wentworth Institute of Technology.
