A.P. Construction Company recently completed the second phase of the $19 million, multi-phase clubhouse & pool complex renovations at the County Club of New Canaan. A.P. Construction completed the first phase in the early summer of 2019.
Phase II comprised of major renovations, reconfiguration and expansion of the existing clubhouse. The 22,000 square-foot phase included a new front entrance, banquet facilities, casual dining area, bar, kitchen, living room, and locker rooms. The clubhouse finishes were upgraded to include custom stained millwork, Venetian plaster walls, decorative trusses, custom brass countertops, wine displays and lockers, and a field stone fireplace.
The renovated clubhouse featured a new 462-person Banquet Room overlooking a relocated putting green and the eighteenth green, dramatically increasing the club’s capacity for hosting special events. New locker rooms and lounges were also built on the second floor with private access for members which includes a balcony that also overlooks the eighteenth hole and putting green.
The clubhouse electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems were also all upgraded. The exterior of the clubhouse was improved and site work included new bluestone patios, Belgium block curbing, new entry drive, architectural columns, field stone fire pits and seating, and extensive landscaping.
“We are pleased to have completed the construction of this prestigious country club and to be selected to enhance numerous country clubs in the tri-state area. Renovations help demonstrate a club’s commitment to maintaining their allure and offering the best amenities for their membership. A.P. Construction takes pride in partnering with clubs to implement their vision with quality construction at the right price,” said Andy Ashforth, CEO & President of A.P. Construction Company.
Phase I of the 34,600 square foot pool complex project featured a new pool complex that includes a wading pool with a pergola, changing facilities, full-service kitchen, indoor and outdoor dining area, camp building, and play area. Construction on the pool complex required the relocation of the fairway and green for the first hole of the club’s golf course.
The pool house is a two level 14,000 square foot structure with a mix of peaked and gambrel roof lines. A covered entry separates the changing, locker, restroom facilities on one side and the life guard office, full-service kitchen and dining areas on the other. Additional renovations during this phase included a 1,300 square foot pavilion with roll up doors, multi-function room and restrooms, a fenced playground and a grass play area for members to utilize.
A.P. Construction’s project team overseeing the project included: Mark Kammerer, Project Director and Ryan Sullivan, Project Manager. The architect was Rogers McCagg Architects. The interior designer was C2 Limited.
