Traditional Building Conference recently presented their 2020 Palladio Awards for excellence in traditional design. Greenwich Historical Society and the project team were among five honored, including architect David Scott Parker Architects. In 2019 A.P. Construction completed the historical renovation and construction of Greenwich Historical Society’s reimagined campus located in Cos Cob, Connecticut.
The 13,000-square-foot project involved the total renovation of one historic structure and minor renovations to another, the construction of a new gallery/archive building, the removal of the old archive building, extensive site work to landscape the garden area, and the addition of a new parking area.
Founded in 2002, the annual Palladio Awards honor outstanding achievement in traditional design. The event recognizes both individual designers and design teams whose work enhances the beauty and humane qualities of the built environment. The Palladio Awards are the first and only national awards program for residential and commercial/institutional projects which demonstrate excellence in traditional design.
This is the fifth award the project has received. Greenwich Historical Society and the design/construction project team were also honored with the CT Trust for Historic Preservation – 2019 Preservation Award of Merit CT, American Institute of Architects & CT Trust for Historic Preservation – Elizabeth Mills Brown Award, CT American Institute of Architects – 2019 Excellence Award, and NY Society of American Registered Architects – 2019 Design Award of Merit.
