Project Description:

  • Project involved the construction of a family health center/behavioral health center that coordinates in one location preventive care, primary care and behavioral health services with approval from the New York Department of Health. Existing structure was renovated to improve 18,000 square feet on three floors and two levels of parking.
  • The building needed to be brought up to current code relative to egress, restrooms, emergency lighting, and fire alarm after a complete demolition of the existing space.
  • Interior spaces included reception and waiting areas, exam rooms, offices, therapy rooms, nurse stations, staff lounges, IT facilities, and restrooms. One elevator was renovated and a second elevator was added. Structural work included the filling in of an atrium to create new floor space.
  • Exterior work included the replacement of windows, painting of the brick façade, the addition of metal Alucobond panels and granite veneer at the street level. A new roof was installed with steel dunnage for the mechanical units.
  • Major challenges were the tight schedule, location on a busy downtown corner with no lay down area requiring sidewalk protection measures and road closures to accommodate the crane needed to hoist materials up to the roof.
  • Construction management services included review of alternate designs, budgeting, value engineering, subcontractor bid and award, safety and logistical planning, pre-purchase program, scheduling, and construction.
