Project Description:

  • Fast paced project to convert the former Paul Tudor Jones office building, a 1905 residential structure with more recent office wings, into an educational facility. Work on three levels was completed in 80 days to be ready for occupancy before the start of the school year.
  • Lower level included conversion of former gym and locker rooms into an assembly space with chair storage and a renovation of the restrooms. A new school store and a mail room were also created on this floor.
  • First floor was extensively renovated to develop 16 classrooms, four home rooms, and four laboratory classrooms in addition to administrative offices and restrooms.
  • Second floor work included the creation of a library, art room, and four classrooms on the former trading floor. Other areas of this floor had paneled offices and extensive millwork which was preserved.
  • Mechanical upgrades included redistribution to all the new classrooms, new controls, and reconfiguration of the perimeter fan coil controls throughout the work area.
  • Structural work included new knee braces and diagonal braces on all three floors to bring the building’s seismic load up to educational building code standards.
  • Site work consisted of a revision to the circulation to allow for better student drop-off and pick-up areas and ADA upgrades.
  • Construction management services included: constructability reviews, budgeting, value engineering, logistical planning, safety planning, subcontractor bid and award, safety and logistical planning, pre-purchase program, scheduling, and construction.
