A.P. Construction Company has been retained as the construction manager to complete the third phase of the Stamford Metro Green development, an 11-story apartment building and an addition to the existing parking garage. Stamford Metro Green III is located on Atlantic Street in Stamford, CT, one block from the Stamford Metro North Railroad Station.

The $35 million, 223,000-square-foot private project began in late 2015 and is expected to be completed by summer 2017. The apartment building will feature 131 residential units including a diverse mix of studio, one-, and two-bedroom units. 73 of the units will be affordable rentals. Amenities will include a public plaza, with a streetscape and private courtyard with a dog play area, playground, and a community garden.

The parking garage addition will feature four levels of precast concrete and add 229 parking spaces to the existing 73 spaces. Both the apartment building and parking garage will be worked on concurrently.

The owner, Johnathan Rose Companies, is seeking a LEED certification for Metro Green III which is considered a key initiative of the Stamford 2030 District, a community of high-efficiency buildings in Downtown Stamford that is to be designed to reduce energy and water consumption and reduce emissions from transportation. Metro Green I apartments became Stamford’s first environmentally friendly affordable housing complex, back in the fall of 2009 and is LEED gold certified.

A.P. Construction has completed 350 multifamily units in the last five years and upon the completion of Metro Green III and another project in West Haven, the total will mark 550 units constructed. A.P. Construction projects have ranged from large mixed-use developments to smaller single structure projects in both urban and suburban locations.
