Project Description:
- “Renovate as New,” multi-phased four-year, 330,000 square foot project performed under occupied conditions.
- Updated all classrooms, science labs, shops, faculty spaces, media center, cafeteria and kitchen, locker rooms, bathrooms, gyms and public spaces. Project included asbestos abatement program.
- Installation of a new roofing system for the entire building.
- Constructed a new 1,000-seat state-of-the-art auditorium to allow existing auditorium to be used for temporary classrooms during the renovation and thus avoided the use of “portable” classroom buildings.
- Site work included repaving all existing parking lots and roadways and installing new sidewalks throughout the campus.
- Modernized all mechanical and electrical infrastructure including new boilers, chillers, air handling units, electrical gear, emergency generator, life safety systems, security systems and building automation controls to meet all new energy codes and to meet LEED Silver certification. New air handling equipment and much of the new ductwork was placed on the roof due to limited above ceiling space.
- Project was constructed in 10 major phases, with the bulk of the work occurring in the summers, to accommodate the ongoing educational program.
