Project Description:
- Constructed new, 8,000 square foot brick addition to provide state-of-the-art quality services to the citizens of Town of Fairfield.
- Historic renovations to existing, Georgian-style, 1903 brick building including structural modifications to handle new weight loads for additional book capacity.
- Installation of new red slate roof tiles.
- The original 1903 mosaic floor on the first floor and the unique brick façade of the library were restored.Custom mahogany and European beech millwork were added throughout the first and second floors of the existing building.
- The children’s library, located on the second floor of the new building, features a custom story room, dedicated program/crafts room, a computer alcove for 3-12 year olds and a young adult learning center for 13-18 year olds.
- Renovation and code upgrades were made in various areas throughout the building, including mechanical and electrical systems, HVAC units, new elevators, restrooms, fire alarm and emergency lighting systems.
- Construction management services included: constructability review, budgeting, value engineering, subcontractor bid and award, safety and logistical planning, scheduling, phasing and construction.
