Project Description:

  • The project involved constructing an out-of-ground net-zero dormitory with 40 apartments, featuring green roofs, solar panels, electric vehicle charging stations, and sustainable materials.
  • The new dormitory building features 18 single-occupancy, 18 double-occupancy, and 4 staff apartments.
  • Additional construction work included installing a fully electrical heating system, sedum green roofs, a rooftop solar array with 241 solar panels, electric vehicle charging stations, hybrid wood and steel framing, Japanese Burnt Wood siding, and triple-glazed European-style windows.
  • To ensure minimal disruption to the campus operations, the project required extensive logistical coordination, temporary access roads, and an isolated construction site away from the active campus.
  • Construction management services included: constructability review, budgeting, value engineering, subcontractor bid and award, safety and logistical planning, pre-purchase program, scheduling, and construction.
