A.P. Construction’s Environmental Commitment
We will be stewards of our environment by taking responsible actions
in our business, community and personal lives.
A.P. Construction has completed numerous sustainable construction projects. We believe improving environmental performance is responsible business practice and will increase A.P. Construction’s value, value to our clients and aid in preserving the environment for future generations.
We have extensive experience supporting our clients with their environmental sustainability efforts and with the installation of green systems and materials. Many projects are LEED certified and include the installation of geothermal heat pump systems that can reduce energy costs up to 40%. We recycle construction debris as much as possible and have installed green construction materials such as cellulose insulation, carpets made from recycled materials, low-e glass with Lutron Daylighting systems, and lumber from sustainable forests in a variety of our construction projects.
We worked with the design team to reach the goal of attaining a LEED Gold rating. Project included a four well geothermal system with heat pumps, Xeriscape landscaping plan which reduced irrigation to only the grass areas, and low consumption plumbing. Additionally, renewable energy/green power achieved through the installation of photovoltaics.
Trumbull High School
Our team oversaw a four-year, multi-phased project that included modernizing all old systems such as air handling, electrical, and security systems to new energy-efficient systems that met energy codes and helped the project achieve a LEED Silver rating. The 330,000 square foot project was performed under occupied conditions without the need for temporary, portable classrooms and included a state-of-the-art 1,000 seat auditorium. The project involved an asbestos abatement program to ensure that the school was a safe environment for students and faculty. In addition to the energy savings from the electrical, building automation, and security system improvements, the project also included new ductwork and a new roofing system.
